JAB 4

I've had this little quilt for a while now... trying to work out what to put on it.  For some reason I just couldn't get it together and be happy with a design.  It belongs to Julie and was designed by Ann, her mum.  We had a little thing going for a while with Julie making, Ann designing and me quilting (hence the JAB title), but we haven't done one for a while due to work, kids, life etc.  And me being slow to be inspired!

Anyway, the time came and I just had to start - Julie thought I had lost it, but no, it was still faithfully hanging on my wall waiting for inspiration.

It is quilted entirely freehand, with the use of rulers for the SID, but the rest I made up as I went along.

I think it has come out OK.  I do like the border design though, might need to refine it for another quilt.

I think Julie's next problem is finding the bind......I know that isn't in my room!!:)

Christmas in July

This quilt was made by Jane and is by Rosalie Quinlan, and is called "It's a Redwork Christmas".

It is very simply quilted, with SID around the stitcheries, then a swirly freehand design in the very inside border,

then a p2p elongated clam in the small outside border,

and a Christmas Bells design by Anne Bright in the bigger border of each block and the very outside of the whole quilt. 

I like this quilt a lot, maybe another to go on my list.....

Pansy lone star

This beauty belongs to Sue and isn't it a beauty!

It is quilted with both freehand swirls, some ruler work, and some Statler work.

The outside border designs are from One Song Needle Arts, and are part of the Bethany range.

The designs in the white corners and inset triangles are a combination of a Bethany frame and parallel lines, with an inside echo finishing it off.

Sorry about the sideways pic, but you get the drift.

Sunshine In Your Pocket baby quilt

I'm sorry these pics are not very good, for some reason some of my pictures don't want to come out nice and clear, and as this quilt has already gone back to its owner, they're the only ones I've got.  Sorry about that.... (and the whole quilt is down the bottom not at the top - I'm not having a good day today am I?)

Anyway this little beauty is a Red Brolly Design and is from a little book called Sunshine in Your Pocket.  I think these little peas with their little faces are SO cute.

It is quilted with freehand flowers, hearts, leaves and swirls with some ditching around the stitcheries.  I love how Lisa has put some of the motifs in the outside border, extending the design right to the outside of the quilt.

New York Beauty

I haven't disappeared, just been away and then sick and then I couldn't work out how to upload pics and then...... I know - excuses, excuses!

But, amazingly these pics are here waiting for me to post them.  So, this is a New York Beauty design by Chris Jurd and made by Belinda N. 

Belinda left the quilt with me, and said to do whatever took my fancy.  So, as usual I got a little carried away, and did some ruler work, then some freehand feathers, and then played on the statler with some curvy geometric designs.



I have made a version of this quilt and it looks nothing like this one.  Mine has chooks on it and is very bright.  This is a total opposite of mine and I love it!

Now that I'm back I have a whole stack of pics to show, so I need to get my act together!

Cream and navy stars

This quilt was made by Nikki and is her own design, based on the fabulous border fabric.  She said it was going to be the closest to "traditional" as she was going to go, and that I could use any quilt design I wanted.

So, she got feathers, a bit of hatching, a bit of parallel lines and a fabulous quilt front and back!

It was quilted on both the freehand and statler machines, and the statler designs are my own, except for the hatching in the corners of the centre star. 

The centre star is freehanded to fill the space.

I have a couple of extra quilts to show you, but I have just discovered that I can't take a sharp picture, so need to retake them..And, next Friday I am flying out to the US to visit with my sister, my friend in NY, and then to meet with some Aussie statler girls to travel sedately on a bus for 10 days looking at museums and quilt shops!!

Another applique quilt

This lovely belongs to Cathy and was designed by Jennifer Corkish of www.sewnaive.com.au .

I really enjoy quilting these style of quilts because I can get a little carried away with the fillers and little bits of space which need something.

It is quilted both freehand and on the statler.  The fillers behind the appliques are all done freehand, as is the outside green border (with the aid of a ruler - this was one from Westalee).

The curved crosshatching design is one from One Song Needle Arts and it really lifts the red and green triangles.
