Cousin Wattle

This beauty went home this week, it is an original design by Leigh Latimore of Port Macquare, and isn't it just lovely.  It has lots of needleturn applique, rounded hexies, and scallops.

Leonie, who made this lovely, has also put cording around the edge, (the blue), prior to adding the outside scallops.  Very clever and beautifully done.

It is quilted freehand with the aid of rulers and templates.  Leonie said to "go for it" and that she liked more quilting than less, so this is the result.  Feathers, feathers and more feathers, fill and some parallel lines, with a bit of cross hatching in the centre.

I really enjoyed quilting this quilt, and managed to get through half of Ice Station by Matthew Reilly and half of Witness by Nora Roberts on my ipod.

Kasuri quilt

Well, this beauty went home this week, back to Michelle's house.  It is an original design by Michelle Marvig and she is teaching it this year at various places around and about.

It is quilted freehand with the use of templates and rulers, with swirly bits, circles, feathers, diagonal lines and a bit of SID.

I had a lot of fun designing the first little bit, and then the secondary patterns started to come out which made it even better.

I love the piecing design on this quilt - thanks Michelle for letting me have a play :).

Enjoy

PS I listen to audio books whilst I am quilting, and I can usually remember which book it was I was listening to when I see pictures later.  This one was quilted to "The Ice Limit" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - if you're interested!!
