Roebuck quilt

I have quilted several Roebuck quilts over the years, and they have all been so different in their colour usage.  This one is very red, white and blue, and tan...
The design is from "Quilts: The Fabric of Society" by Annette Gero.

It is quilted freehand with the use of templates and rulers.  Lots and lots of feathers and fill, and little squiggly bits in odd places!  (Very technical terms there.  )

(sorry about the sideways look)

The back.  Just as beautiful as the front with all the different thread colours.

Enjoy

I think I was listening to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon when I was doing this. Now I'm onto the second book, in anticipation of the 8th book coming out next year.

Kookaburra sitting in the old gum tree.

This beauty went home last week for binding and is then a birthday pressie for a special sister - can't mention any names because I'm not sure if said sister doesn't read this blog....

It is a design by Kookaburra Cottage Quilts, called Kookaburra Laugh and isn't it just so Aussie?
I really enjoyed quilting this one, it is all done freehand with the aid of a couple of rulers to get the leaf shape and to SID.

I had a little play with some straight lines and curves, and these show up in the next 2 pics, taken with the shadow across them.

As an aside I was listening to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon whilst doing this, in preparation for the next book coming out soon.

Enjoy
